A Look Ahead into My Plans for 2019
2018 was a scary and rewarding year. I took on the challenge of changing my career direction and aimed to be a full-time content creator and Twitch streamer. As does any journey you take on outside of your comfort zone, there was a learning curve to overcome and lessons to learn along the way. Not going to lie. It was very tough at times and yet somehow insanely rewarding. I felt like every single time I hit a low-point, I ended up running into a new high-point throughout the year.
My YouTube channel hit milestones in viewers and subscribers. Along the way I learned that I love editing my videos. It happened when I realized that filming content is just the start. The editing process is really when my humor and style comes out in the finished process. Uploading a video I thought at some point was unusable and watching the views climb and comments come in is very addicting. At different points during the year, I was able to start two new series. Driving with Meg and Video Game Eats. Both series are made along side and with the help of my sister Megan. We have a lot of fun and the fact that the videos have found an audience online and helped launch our podcast is still kinda crazy to me.
Over on Twitch, I was able to be consistent enough to earn an affiliate status with the company. It was a great motivator to keep streaming and growing my online community. We now have a Discord, sub nights, and movie nights. Plus, we launched a book club and have plans for much more this year. It’s with their support that I can keep aspiring to reach partner status with Twitch and continue to pursue my dream of having control over my career. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for all the support and encouragement from the Twitch community. I am very lucky to have you all. Which leads me to reflect on what I want to accomplish this year.
In 2019, I want to keep growing my online audience. On YouTube, I want to keep developing my series and improve the overall quality of my content. Investing into new equipment and learning new skills will be a part of that. Plus, I want to develop a few more new video series. Over on Twitch, I want to keep going towards the path of partnership. I really want to make my streams a place for anyone watching to forget their worries that day and just have a good time. Which is why I will adding additional streams every week and even will start cooking live!
For the podcast and this website, I want to consistently update with new episodes and blog posts. Some great people I really respect have expressed interest in being a part of future episodes and that is something I never would have dreamed of when I first had the idea to start the podcast. I was looking for an audio format that captured the random conversations I had with my sister. Now, we have an audience. You have welcomed us into your lives and that is something we don’t take for granted.
Thank you for all the support in 2018. I hope you continue to support us in 2019. I can’t wait to experience the ups and downs with you all this year. It will be fun, one way or another.
